Hiking in the Himalayas is not always about climbing high peaks or reaching to the high passes it about witnessing every element of the mountains. Amongst that is the never-ending eye-soothing greenery. Ali Bedni Bugyal trek as you might have guessed from the name is an epitome of meadows with stupendous Himalayan peaks standing tall in the background. The hike is a pleasant walk through the grasslands with cattle grazing, birds chirping and tiny flowers magnifying the elegance. The wonderful 6 days journey commences from Lohajung (popular from Roopkund trek) and ends at the beautiful Wan village.
Brief Itinerary
Day 1: Rishikesh to Lohajung
- Altitude 7,650 ft.
- Stay in guest house
- Drive 250 km (10 hrs drive)
- Local market and network is available
- Pick up time 06:00 am at the parking of ISBT Rishikesh
- Route:- Rishikesh – Devprayag- Srinagar- Rudraprayag – Karanprayag- Dewal – Lohajung.
- Note: Please arrive one day before, if coming by flight. (Dehradun Airport – Jolly grant).
Day 2: Loharjung to Didna Village
- Trek 6.5 km, 4-5 hrs.
- 7,650 ft. to 8,100 ft.
- Reach Didna before lunch.
- Accommodation in village home stay.
- No local market but Network is available.
- Till ruan bagad bridge gradual descent (4.5 km).
- Refill your water bottle at ruan bagad bridge from Neel Ganga river.
- After ruan bagad bridge 2 hours of a steep ascent to Didna Village (2 km).
Day 3: Didna To Khobal Tal via Ali Bugyal
- Trek 10.5km, 7-8 hrs.
- 8,100 ft. to 11,350 ft.
- Accommodation in tent.
- Carry water and ors both.
- Reach Ali Bugyal by late noon.
- Keep your wind and waterproof handy.
- Tolpani is the last point for drinking water.
- First half of is through oak and rhododendron forest (Steep ascent).
- Second half of the trek is through big alpine meadows (gradual ascent).
Day 4: Khobal Tal to Ghairoli Patal
- Trek 7 km 4-5 hrs.
- 11,350 ft. to 10,500 ft.
- Easiest day of the trek.
- Accommodation in tent.
- Reach Ghairoli Patal before lunch.
- Khobal Tal to Bedni Bugyal (3 km gradual descent).
- Bedni Bugyal to Doliya Dhar (1 km gradual walk).
- Doliya Dhar to Ghaeroli Patal (3 km steep descent ).
Day 5: Ghairoli Patal to Loharjung.
- Trek 7km 5-6 hrs.
- 10,500ft. to 7,650ft.
- Ghaeroli Patal to Neel Ganga (3 km steep descent).
- Neel Ganga to Ranka Dhar (1 km moderate ascent).
- Ranka Dhat to Wan Village road head (3 km gradual descent).
- Wan Village to Loharjung (45 minute’s drive, road condition is not good).
Day 6: Loharjung to Rishikesh
- 10 hrs drive.
- Drive 210 km.
- After morning tea move to Rishikesh (breakfast and lunch on the way).
- Reach Rishikesh by 5:00 pm.
Day 7: Buffer Day
- Buffer day can be used if trip delay due to of road block, bad weather or any unforeseen circumstances.
- Keep a buffer day in your travel plan, it’s highly advisable (it’s totally a trekker’s choice).
- Buffer day is not included in the cost.
- If buffer day is not used in the Expedition then it can be used to explore Rishikesh/Haridwar.
- Rishikes is known for White water Rafting capital of India, Bungee jumping, Yoga, Ayurvedic Massage, Ram Jhula, Lakshman Jhula, Janki pul, Neer gaddu waterfall, Parmarth aarti, big ashrams.
- Haridwar is known for Pilgrimage, Numerous temples, Har Ki Pauri, Ganga Aarti, Jungle safari in Rajaji National Park, Ayurvedic medicines and herbal remedies.
